Which Version

This guide is for TVMOBilI on Desktop linux. If you have installed TVMOBiLi on an embedded device such as a NAS see NAS and other embedded devices.

TVMOBiLi for desktop linux is packaged in both RPM (RedHat and variants) and DEB (Debian/Ubuntu and variants).

Installing

RedHat / OpenSUSE etc (.rpm)

Download the rpm onto your computer. Install from the terminal using the command:

rpm -i <package name>

Where:

<Package name> is the name of the rpm file that you just downloaded.

Debian / Ubuntu etc (.deb)

Download the .deb onto your computer. Install from the terminal using the command:

dpkg -i <package name>

Where:

<Package name> is the name of the deb file that you just downloaded.

Start / Stop

To start and stop the daemon, type:

sudo /etc/init.d/tvmobilisvcd stop
sudo /etc/init.d/tvmobilisvcd start

Disable/Enable automatic start on boot

The simplest way to control this is using the chkconfig tool.

To enable TVMOBiLi on machine start up:

sudo chkconfig tvmobilisvcd on

To disable TVMOBiLi on machine start up:

sudo chkconfig tvmobilisvcd off

If your distro is Debian based (Ubuntu etc) then you may not have this utility. You should be able to install it using:

sudo apt-get install chkconfig

Uninstalling

RedHat / OpenSUSE etc (.rpm)

From the terminal type:

rpm -e <package name>

Where:

<Package name> is the name of the rpm you installed. If you can not remember it then you can find it out by typing:

rpm -qa | grep -i tvmobili

Debian / Ubuntu etc (.deb)

Download the .deb onto your computer. Install from the terminal using the command:

dpkg -r <package name>

Where:

<Package name> is the name of the deb you installed. If you can not remember it then you can find it out by typing:

dpkg -l | grep -i tvmobili
